soymilk & Glycemic Index
What is Glycemic Index?
Glycemic Index (GI) is the ranking of foods based on their
overall effect on blood sugar levels.
Carbohydrates are nature’s energy source providing
essential fuel for your body. But not all carbohydrates are
the same. Slowly released carbohydrates in low glycemic index
foods provide sustained energy release.
Foods with the highest GI raise blood glucose quickly and
low GI foods raise blood glucose more slowly.
What are low GI foods?
Glycemic Index ranking compares foods to pure glucose sugar
which has a GI of 100. Low GI foods have a GI below 55.
